Tim Durham – Durham’s Silt Fencing, LLC

Logan Cockerham: When people ask about your business, how do you describe what you do?

Tim Durham: I explain that we do what is called erosion prevention sediment. It’s a two-part process. So we come in and consult and determine areas of need, and then provide the expertise to prevent erosion.

Logan Cockerham: So, Tim, how long have you been in business and how many employees do you have?

Tim Durham: We’ve been in business since 2015, and right now we have three or four folks that actively work and about four or five that are contracted during times of need.

Logan Cockerham: Where do you want to take your company long term and what’s your plan to exit?

Tim Durham: My long-term goal will be to get into retail – selling erosion control products to the end consumer. I’d also like to get into more of the consulting role.

Logan Cockerham: What’s one mistake you’ve made or lesson learned that other business owners and entrepreneurs can learn from, regardless of their industry?

Tim Durham: As a business owner, you have to learn and listen to the business. Be open to new ideas. Be open to change. Because it’s a forever changing process. Keep learning so you can make the best decisions.

Logan Cockerham: So, Tim what is most inspiring to you today?

Tim Durham: Today what’s most inspiring to me is to never, ever give up no matter the circumstances. Because of that I know I can achieve anything I set my mind to.
