Anne and Co-Founder Bruce Ucán opened The Mayan Cafe in 2007 and have continually grown and expanded the popular restaurant in NuLu ever since, surviving both the financial meltdown and the Pandemic through sheer grit and determination. Bruce is a genius in the kitchen, creating recipes that are a fusion of traditional Mayan recipes and flavors with locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
The Mayan Cafe added full-service catering in 2017, as well as a fast casual Food Truck. They are currently nearing completion on another physical expansion of the restaurant adding significant new space and options for customers.
As the restaurant’s GM, Anne is responsible for the restaurant’s day to day operations, human resources, marketing/branding and finances. She utilizes her BA in Psychology to create both a great place to work and a great place to eat by creating a warm and welcoming culture for everyone.
Her Key to Success: Find the right partner(s) and have a weekly meeting with them outside of the office every week, no matter what.
